Annual dance show takes place three nights this week at the Paso Robles High School Performing Arts Center

With a theme of Dance Out Loud, the annual Paso Robles High School spring dance show promises to bring three nights of choreographed entertainment to life. Taking place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 12-14 at the Performing Art Center on the high school campus, the show will likely sell out if past years are any indication.

“This is our only fundraising show of the year,” says Jennifer Bedrosian. As the Visual Arts and Performing Arts Department Chair, Director of Dance, Co-ASB & Leadership Director, and Varsity Cheerleading Advisor at Paso Robles High School, Bedrosian keeps busy throughout the school year. Members of her dance troupe perform at a wide variety of events including football half-time shows, school assemblies, and community outreach dance performances.

This year, 44 advanced, 23 intermediate, and 15 beginning dancers ranging from freshmen to seniors will perform a variety of dance styles including hip hop, contemporary, jazz, modern, ballet, African, comedy and more.

“We have such a big range of dances,” says Bedrosian. “Most of it is choreographed by the students except for a few numbers that I choreographed myself and the finale by one of Paso High’s alumnus, Amy Wescom.”

In addition, Bedrosian has enlisted the help of Amy Coletta as the show’s house manager while PRHS Drama teacher Marci Goodnow and her drama students are set to help out as sound technicians, running stage lights, providing backstage management and more.

“The dance numbers are short, fast-paced and full of energy,” says Bedrosian. “Year after year, I get comments from people that come out to the show letting me know how impressed they are with the high level of performance from these students.”

Tickets for Dance Out Loud are $5 for students with an ASB sticker, $10 for general admission, and will be sold on the PRHS campus during school hours in front of room 502 through Wednesday, March 11; call Jennifer Bedrosian at 390-9222 to discuss other options for purchasing tickets.
