Update Aug. 6, 2014: Charges were filed against a former Paso Robles High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, KSBY News reports.

Eight counts were filed against Jeremy Monn, 31, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, meeting a minor for lewd purposes, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, and child molestation, the report says.

The alleged crimes occured between March 1 and June 2 of this year, the report says. He was placed on administrative leave by the school district and is set to be arraigned in a San Luis Obispo courtroom today.

Original post June 3, 2014: On June 1 the Paso Robles Police Department began investigating reports that a male teacher at the Paso Robles High School was having a sexual relationship with a student. During the investigation a 16-year-old female student disclosed that she has had an ongoing sexual relationship with her adult male teacher.

This morning the Paso Robles Police Department arrested Paso Robles High School teacher Jeremy Ryan Monn, 30, of Paso Robles. He was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, a felony. The victim’s name has been withheld for confidentiality reasons.

“The initial report was filed with the Paso Robles Police Department, and we have been in constant communication with the police since that time,” said Paso Robles Public Schools spokesman Ashley Lightfoot in a statement. “We will continue cooperating with the police as they progress in their investigation,” he said.

Monn has been placed on administrative leave and has been prohibited from visiting school sites or other district facilities, and is prohibited from contacting students, parents, or staff members. While this appears to be an isolated incident involving one student, Lightfoot said, anyone with information is asked to call the Paso Robles Police Department at (805) 237-6464.
