Paso Robles appoints new Fire Chief

–The City of Paso Robles is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Stornetta to lead its Emergency Services Department.

Stornetta was born and raised in Atascadero, and is an Atascadero High School alum. He began his emergency services career in 1991 and proudly joined the Paso Robles Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic in 2001. Thereafter, he promoted to Fire Captain/Paramedic and then to Battalion Chief, and has now served the City and citizens of Paso Robles full-time for over 17 years. Jonathan has acted as Interim Fire Chief since October 2017. After a competitive external recruitment process, which including six different panels over two days, City Manager Tom Frutchey has selected Jonathan to lead the Paso Robles Emergency Services Department.

“Jonathan’s thorough understanding of the community’s values and needs, combined with his passion for leading our department into the future, extensive technical expertise, and years of field experience, make for a uniquely qualified Fire Chief,” says Frutchey.

Jonathan’s family has resided in San Luis Obispo County for multiple generations and remains active in his family roots of agriculture.

“I was thoroughly impressed with everyone who participated in the selection process, by their professionalism, and by the City and community’s continued commitment to find the right person to lead the Department of Emergency Services. I would not be here without the support of City staff, members of the Department of Emergency Services, and the community. I would like to thank former Fire Chief Ken Johnson and Phil Garcia for their continued support and mentorship. I am extremely grateful and honored to lead an organization with such great people,” says Jonathan.

Jonathan lives in Creston with his wife Lindsey and their two children.
