‘Textures’ exhibit remains on view through Feb. 26

    – The Paso Robles Art Association will open its first exhibit of 2026 on Jan. 3 at 5 p.m. in its galleries inside Studios on the Park in downtown Paso Robles.

The exhibit, titled “Textures,” features works submitted by members of the Paso Robles Art Association interpreting the theme of texture. The exhibit is open to the public.

Author, historian, and architectural scholar Gordon L. Fuglie will serve as a special guest judge and present awards to artists featured in the exhibit. Fuglie recently published a book examining the work of architect Julia Morgan and her contributions to Hearst Castle, according to Gallery Director Kimberly Cruiciani.

“We have a very special guest bestowing awards to our artists for this exhibit. Gordon Fuglie has recently published a comprehensive book about Julia Morgan and her work on the beloved Hearst Castle,” Cruiciani said.

Fuglie, an Atascadero resident, described his work on the publication in a statement included with the exhibit announcement.

“Since 2017, I have been laboring to produce a comprehensive study on Julia Morgan, her fellow California architects, historicist California architecture in the Progressive Era and post-World War I era (1890 to 1930), and new research on Hearst Castle,” Fuglie said. “My labors at last bore fruit. Rizzoli, the international fine art publisher, released our book late this spring: Julia Morgan: The Road to San Simeon, Visionary Architect of the California Renaissance.”

The exhibit includes more than 70 pieces of art in a range of media, including watercolors, acrylic paintings, oil paintings, and photographs. Handcrafted jewelry, sculptures, and small gifts are also on display. The exhibit will remain on view through Feb. 26, when the next exhibit is installed.

The Paso Robles Art Association works with its members and the community to raise awareness and appreciation of art through education, community outreach, and the display of art. The association promotes art exhibits, classes, lectures, and workshops, and offers members’ art for sale in its gallery.
