Paso Robles Bearcats beat Righetti Warriors
On Tuesday, the Paso Robles Bearcats beat Righetti Warriors and their highly regarded ace, Matt Sauer, to take a two-game lead in the Pacific 8 Conference.
Bearcat Dylan Lewis hit 3 for 3 including the game-winner to break a 3-3 tie in the 7th inning to beat Warriors.
Highly-recruited Matt Sauer pitched the entire game for Righetti. He also hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.
More than a dozen professional scouts were on hand to evaluate Sauer. According to one scout, Sauer’s pitches reached speeds of between 91-94 miles per hour in yesterday’s game.
The Bearcats’ sophomore pitching staff of Ryan Harvel and Lucas Climer kept the Paso Robles in the game. Climer got the win and a key strikeout. He struck out Matt Sauer in the 7th inning with a runner in scoring position.
With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 15-1 in the Pac 8. Righetti falls to 13-3. Those teams play again this afternoon in Santa Maria.
