– The 95th Annual Pioneer Day Parade took place Saturday in downtown Paso Robles. The parade began at 10 a.m. and featured antique tractors, horse-drawn wagons, marching bands, equestrian groups, youth and civic organizations, floats, vintage cars, fire engines, and military vehicles. This year’s float theme was “95th Pioneer Playlist.”
Festivities began early with the Children’s Pet Show and Little Cowboy and Cowgirl contests at the Downtown Park Gazebo. After the parade, events continued with the annual bean feed, whiskerino contest, horseshoe pitching contest, and antique equipment displays near the park and at the Pioneer Museum, which also hosted tractor demonstrations and a gas engine show.
The Pioneer Day games and gymkhana followed at 3 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center, featuring competitions such as the hay hurdle relay, hay loading race, tug-of-war between the Paso Robles and Atascadero varsity football teams, and various tractor and trailer events. Winners in the major contests received cash prizes.
