Ty Lewis on medical leave of absence
– Paso Robles City Manager Ty Lewis is currently on a leave of absence from Paso Robles City Hall.
Lewis said his doctor initiated a medical leave about two months ago. “I’ve been having some health issues related to my heart, and also a serious family medical condition,” he said. His daughter is in treatment for cancer.
Lewis was hired as city manager in August 2021 after serving as police chief of Paso Robles. He’s worked in law enforcement for 25 years.
Reached for comment, Paso Robles Mayor John Hamon said, “This is a personnel matter. Council members are not allowed to discuss anything regarding closed session items until made public by legal counsel. I can tell you that Ty is on a job-protected leave at this time. We hope to see more information released about the second week of October.”
Councilman Steve Gregory said, “I can’t comment.”
Paso Robles Assistant City Manager Chris Huot is the acting city manager. He was appointed in January 2022. He previously worked for the city of Bakersfield.
Huot did not reply to a request for comment, and city hall has not made an official statement about Lewis’s leave of absence.
