Lewis says his health is ‘in a stable place now’

    – Paso Robles City Manager Ty Lewis will return to work on Wednesday morning, citing improvements in his health after taking a leave of absence for most of the past four months.

“The leave has all been about my health issues,” Lewis said in an interview. “I took a step back. I was having heart problems.”

“I’ve been seeing a team of doctors and working on it, and it looks like it is in a stable place now,” he said. “My health care team feels like it is an appropriate time to allow me to return back to work and do my job.”

Lewis expressed confidence that he has the support of a majority of the city council members as he resumes his duties. However, he said he is unsure of the outcome of the city’s investigation into his claim, which seeks more than $2.275 million in damages.

The city council previously rejected the claim, but the matter was expected to be discussed in a closed session during Tuesday’s council meeting.

The council met in private session before its regular meeting, but there was no reportable action. City council members could not be reached for comment at press time.

On Oct. 5, Paso Robles City Manager Ty Lewis filed a formal complaint against City Councilman Chris Bausch, alleging inappropriate behavior. The specifics of the complaint were not initially disclosed but raised significant concerns among city officials and residents.

On Oct. 17, Mayor John Hamon released a letter addressing the situation. He acknowledged the city manager’s claim and stressed the importance of professionalism and due process in handling such allegations.

On Oct. 21, the full text of Lewis’s complaint against Bausch was made public. The document outlines accusations of hostile and unprofessional behavior, alleging that the actions created a toxic environment at City Hall.

On Oct. 23, Councilman Chris Bausch responded to the allegations, describing the situation as a political attack and defending his actions. Bausch called the allegations baseless and stated he remains focused on his duties as an elected official.

On Oct. 24, City Manager Ty Lewis alleged a coordinated effort to remove him from office. He claimed the attempt was linked to his complaint against Bausch and suggested the controversy was part of a broader political conflict at City Hall.

If he does not drop the lawsuit against the City he should resign and let him fight his issues in a civil suit.
