– The Paso Robles Democratic Club presented its first annual Steve Martin Community Service Award to Yessenia Echevarria on Sunday during its annual holiday celebration. Echevarria was recognized for her advocacy in civil rights, specifically in the areas of education, healthcare, and Latino cultural awareness and pride.
The ceremony for the nonpartisan award was attended by approximately 80 people, including former Mayor Steve Martin’s wife, Jennifer Martin. Both Echevarria and Jennifer Martin spoke about their hopes that former Mayor Martin’s example of bringing people with differing perspectives together to work for the good of the community will continue to be remembered and emulated.
Two other nominees for the award, David Kudija and Juanetta Perkins, were presented with certificates of appreciation for their contributions to the Paso Robles community.
Nomination forms for the 2025 Steve Martin Community Service Award are available on the Paso Robles Democratic Club’s website and will be accepted until Nov. 1, 2025.
