Paso Robles firefighters grant a wish to local boy with muscular dystrophy 

–The Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services hosted a Make a Wish Foundation presentation on Saturday Feb. 23 at the Public Safety Center.

The “Make a Wish” presentation was granted to Justin Van Pelt. Justin is an 8 year old Paso Robles resident that suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a rare genetic disease which causes muscles in the body to become weak and damaged over time.

Justin was diagnosed when he was 1 1⁄2 years old and he will turn 9 on March 20. Justin and his family were granted a 7 day Bahamas Disney Cruise by the Make a Wish foundation. His family and friends were provided a Fire Department tour and a fun filled experience with the firefighters, as part of the presentation.
