Paso Robles firefighters to train with live fire at new site
Training is designed to prepare firefighters to teach the course in the future
– Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services will conduct live fire training from Tuesday through Friday next week at 2924 Union Road, the site of the city’s new fire station and training center.
The department will host a Fire Control 3 class, which provides instruction on fire behavior, flow path, firefighting techniques, and safety protocols. The training is designed to prepare firefighters to teach the course in the future.
The National Fire Protection Association requires firefighters to complete at least one live fire evolution annually, a requirement that has been challenging to meet in past years due to the lack of a dedicated training site.
The recent acquisition of the Fire Station 3 site and funding from the J-20 sales tax initiative have enabled the city to move forward with plans to construct a fire and police training facility, expected to be completed by 2025, according to a press release from the department.

This was long overdue. It is a fantastic addition to increasing department members’ skills. Having a facility locally also negates the need to send members elsewhere for such basic training.
