Paso Robles High School adding on-campus cosmetology salon
– Paso Robles High School is moving forward with plans to transform an existing classroom into a state-of-the-art Cosmetology lab and training salon, giving students the opportunity to earn hours toward their California Cosmetology license right on campus, according to the latest zine edition of Paso Proud. The remodeled space—scheduled to open by August 2026—will blend classroom instruction with real, hands-on salon experience.
The creation of this new pathway comes directly from student feedback. In this year’s student CTE survey, cosmetology emerged as one of the most requested programs at PRHS. District staff studied successful cosmetology CTE models in other California districts, shaping a program designed to meet that student demand while aligning with industry expectations.
The new facility will feature guest-friendly access near parking, with all visitors checking in through the existing Verkada Guest System to ensure safety. Once open, students will gain practical experience in a campus salon open to the public, with operating days and hours to be determined.
Services will include a materials fee, but all revenue will be reinvested into supplies and educational materials, mirroring the operations of successful school-based cosmetology programs and keeping the pathway sustainable.
This remodel marks an exciting expansion of career and technical education at PRHS—offering students industry-aligned training, professional skills, and a clear path toward state licensure in a field they asked for.
