Paso Robles High School sports update: Golf, water polo

The Paso Robles Girls’ Golf Team competed against Arroyo Grande High School today at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in the final match of the season. Both teams shot season-best team scores. Arroyo Grande earned a 236-252 victory. Malia Gaviola shot a personal best and individual low score of the season for the Bearcats with a 45. Katie Wagner also had a strong day shooting a 48.

Boys water polo

The Bearcat Boys’ water polo team fell to the Righetti Warriors this Wednesday. Paso started the game tied 2-2 with Righetti at the end of the first quarter. At half Righetti had created a small lead, 6-4. The Bearcats continued to trail 8-6 by the end of the third quarter. The final score for the match was 13-10, Righetti. The Bearcats were led by Reily Lowry who had 5 goals in the contest. Tre Eade added 3 Goals. Cody Domingos rounded out the scoring for the Bearcats with 2 Goals.

The Bearcats are now 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in League. Their next contest is versus Atascadero on Wednesday, April 7 at Municipal Pool.

Girls water polo

On Thursday, the Lady Bearcats hosted the Righetti Warriors at Municipal Pool. Paso Robles opened the game with Leanna Reed scoring at the 557 mark. Righetti was able to answer with Chloe Porter scoring at the 1:42 mark. Chloe scored again at the 1:03 mark that ended the scoring in the 1st. Righetti 2 Paso 1

The 2nd period opened with Leanna Reed scoring at the 6:15 mark. Porter scored to put Righetti ahead 3 to 2. Rioan Lane scored for Righetti to increase the lead to 4 to 2. Leanna Reed answered with a goal at the 4:11 mark. With 2:00 left in the period, Allison Hernandez was called for an ejection foul and Righetti was able to score in the advantage to bring the score to 5 to 3 at the half for Righetti. In the 3rd period, the Bearcats were able to get some offense. Reed scored at the 3:21 mark, Allison Hernandez added a goal and again Reed scored to bring the score to 7 to 6 Righetti at the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Bearcats were able to even the score at 7 as again Leanna Reed was able to score at the 6:33 mark. Allison Hernandez scored shortly after to take an 8 to 7 lead for the Bearcats. With 4:30 seconds in the 4th, Allison Hernandez scored to take a 2 goal lead for the Bearcats. At the 3:22 mark Milan Richmann scored to give the Bearcats a 10 to 7 lead. The Lady Bearcats were able to hold the lead and win with the 10 to 7 score. In the game Leanna Reed led the team with 6 goals, Allison Hernandez added goals and Milan Richmann scored 1 goal. Another outstanding game in goal for Kaitlyn Hebrard. She was able to make 14 outstanding saves with 5 saves in the 4th period alone. The Bearcats are now 3 and 3 overall in our shortened season. The Bearcats are scheduled to play Atascadero next Wednesday, April 7 at 4 p.m. at Municipal Pool.
