Paso Robles home destroyed by fire
By Anthony Reed
–A Paso Robles home was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.
It reportedly broke out shortly before 2:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Santa Ynez Avenue. By 2:55 p.m., the flames appeared to have died down and much of the home burned down.
The fire created a large amount of smoke visible throughout the Paso Robles area. Multiple agencies were requested at the scene.
Two vehicles also sustained fire damage.
Two of the structures were occupied at the time of the fire. All occupants were able to evacuate safely. No community members were injured and one firefighter received minor burns. In total, five residents were displaced from their homes.
Fire Chief Jonathon Stornetta said gusty winds and high temperatures inspired the heavy response. Stornetta says the fire spread to the garage of the neighboring house at 199 Santa Ynez, but firefighters went through the front door and pushed the fire back out the garage before it spread to the rest of that house. The house at 305 Santa Ynez/San Fernando suffered major damage. A gas line to the house caught fire and continued burning, so SoCal Gas dug up the line in front of the house to shut it off.
