Paso Robles Inn gives the gift of reading for students
Purchase books from giving tree to donate to local middle school
‘Tis the season to give and this year, the Paso Robles Inn is giving back to the community by hosting a giving tree in the hotel lobby benefitting the George H. Flamson Middle School Library in Paso Robles. The Christmas tree is decorated with 50 envelope ornaments that have pre-approved book titles from the librarian’s wish list. Guests and community neighbors can pick the envelope of their choice off the tree and place their cash or check inside and return to the front desk. All donations will be giving to the Flamson Middle School Library to help purchase books for the New Year.
The Paso Robles Inn and the whole collection of Martin Resorts’ hotels value the importance of sharing the love of reading and literacy within the community. In addition to the Paso Robles Inn Giving Tree, all Martin Resorts hotels recently installed five new Little Free Libraries, located at each one of the hotel entrances. The idea of the Little Free Libraries is simple, “take a book, leave a book.” Neighbors and guests can take a book from any of the Little Free Libraries, no strings attached. Readers are also encouraged to donate books from their own collections to the libraries by simply placing them inside the boxes.
Martin Resorts’ Little Libraries were an employee project started by Chief Operating Officer, Margaret Johnson, with the help of her husband, who designed and built each one. Next, the employees at each Martin Resorts hotel had the opportunity to decorate and paint the Little Libraries to reflect the uniqueness of each property’s location. To start the library collections, Martin Resorts hosted an internal employee book drive asking for donations for books.
