The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday
– Mujeres de Acción, a Paso Robles-based nonprofit focused on health awareness, cultural empowerment, and community engagement, is encouraging donations this Giving Tuesday to support its mission.
Giving Tuesday, an annual global day of charitable giving, occurs the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Originating in 2012, the initiative raised nearly $3.1 billion from 34 million donors in 2023.
“We run on the donations of generous benefactors on the Central Coast and beyond,” said Yessenia Echevarria, founder and executive director of Mujeres de Acción. “With your generosity, we can empower Latinas to take control of their health, be leaders in their community, and celebrate their culture.”
This year, Mujeres de Acción saw significant growth in its events and programs. Children’s Day attracted nearly 1,000 attendees, while the Hispanic Heritage Festival brought close to 4,000 people to downtown city park in Paso Robles. The organization also launched a monthly women’s business mixer, which has seen nearly 200 attendees across five events.
The 10th Annual Breast Cancer Gala, held Nov. 16 at Spring Hill Suites in Atascadero, brought together over 100 attendees to honor survivors, remember those lost, and celebrate the community with awards recognizing outstanding contributions.
