Paso Robles Parent University to begin Sept. 14
–The 2017-18 school year has gotten off to a strong start in Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) as nearly 7000 students were welcomed on the first day of school. PRJUSD continues to offer some of the best programs for students in San Luis Obispo County. Says Superintendent Chris Williams, “This year, we are expanding services to help educate parents as they navigate through their child’s educational career.”
The Paso Robles Parent University is a new collaborative led by PRJUSD to help parents become full partners in their child’s education. While school sites hold regular parent meetings throughout the year, this is an opportunity to cover various subjects in greater depth. Eleven different modules will be offered ranging in topics from social/emotional support to transitioning into middle school/high school. Each module is composed of three two-hour sessions. All sessions will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the PRJUSD board room located at 800 Niblick Road. A light dinner and childcare will be provided and parents earn a certificate upon completion.
The first module to be offered is “Transition to High School” beginning on September 14. This module is intended for parents of current freshmen or eighth grade students but is open for anyone to attend. The sessions will focus on four-year academic plans, career pathways, an overview of Aeries, and what to expect in the next four years of high school.

High School – 12th Grade: October 19, 26, November 2
Middle School: October 30, November 6, 13
GATE: November 29, December 6, 13
Early Learning: January 11, 18, 25
English Learners: February 8, 15, 22
Technology & Social Media: February 2, 20, March 6
Special Education: April 12, 19, 26
Social/Emotional Support: April 30, May 7
NCAA: May 9, 16
