Paso Robles Police Activities League launches applications for Junior Giants
Practices begin Tuesday, June 10, at Barney Schwartz Park
– The Paso Robles Police Activities League is now accepting applications for the Junior Giants baseball and softball league. The non-competitive league is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 13.
Junior Giants includes a baseball league and a softball league with three divisions: T-Ball for players ages 5 to 6, Minors for ages 7 to 9, and Majors for ages 10 to 13. Practices begin Tuesday, June 10, at Barney Schwartz Park. An opening day celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, at 3:30 p.m.
All practices and games will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Barney Schwartz Park in Paso Robles.
With support from the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, the Junior Giants league provides each player with a jersey, pants and a hat. Take-home gloves are available if needed. The league also supplies all other equipment, including bats, balls, gloves, catcher’s gear, baseballs and softballs. Participation is free for all players.
The league relies on volunteer coaches and encourages community members to consider volunteering. No prior experience is required. Optional practice plans and instructional videos are available. The expected time commitment for volunteers is approximately two hours per week.
Players and coaches can register at www.gojrgiants.org.
A parents’ meeting is scheduled for tonight at the Paso Robles Police Department from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A volunteer meeting will follow from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free Junior Giants Livescans will be available for volunteers during that time.
