    Paso Robles Police department introduces new K9 officer

    Officer Lugo and K9 Griff start patrol duties Friday

    – The Paso Robles Police Department has added a new member to its patrol team: Police K9 “Griff.”

    Officer Stephen Lugo has been chosen as the K9 handler. He and K9 Griff recently completed a five-week K9 Patrol School and K9 Narcotics Detection School.

    K9 Griff is a 15-month-old German Shepherd, imported from Serbia by the department’s vendor kennel located in Ventura. Griff has been trained and POST-certified for handler protection, apprehension, searching, and narcotics detection.

    Officer Lugo and K9 Griff will begin their duties this Friday, March 7, starting at 4 p.m.
