    – Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County is inviting community members to participate in the ReStore-It Challenge, a competition focused on furniture restoration and upcycling. The event will take place at the organization’s ReStores in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.

Participants will select a $20 furniture item in need of repair from the ReStore and transform it at home. The refurbished items must be returned to the ReStore by April 1 for public voting. Entries will be displayed both in-store and online, where customers can vote for their favorite before-and-after transformations. The winner will be announced during an Earth Day event on April 19.

“This challenge is the perfect opportunity to combine creativity with community service,” said Stephanie Wright, ReStores manager of Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County. “It’s inspiring to see how people can breathe new life into old furniture while supporting our mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.”

Participants are encouraged to document their restoration process and share progress photos on social media using #ReStoreItChallenge and tagging @HabitatSLOReStores on Instagram. After the competition, participants may keep their furniture or leave it to be sold at the ReStore.

Proceeds from the ReStore-It Challenge will support Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County’s programs, which focus on building and repairing homes for local families in need. Since 2003, the organization has completed 26 homes across the county, from Cambria to Grover Beach.
