Paso Robles schools launch year-round bus driver position
Candidates do not need a commercial license to apply
– Paso Robles Joint Unified School District has created a year-round Transportation and Facilities Support Technician position that combines student transportation with facilities and grounds support.
The full-time role includes paid training, salary, paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, and a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Duties include driving students to and from school, maintaining school facilities, and caring for school grounds.
“This new position shows our commitment to finding creative solutions that benefit both employees and our community,” said Jennifer Loftus, PRJUSD superintendent. “By offering year-round work, paid training, and strong benefits, we’re making Paso Robles one of the most attractive districts for drivers in the region.”
In recent years, the district has worked with labor partners to raise wages for bus drivers and created flexible five- and eight-hour shifts. The new position adds a hybrid, year-round option.
Candidates do not need a commercial license to apply. The district provides required training at no cost so new hires can earn a Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus endorsements within their first six months of employment. The district values the certification at approximately $8,000.
