Paso Robles student named Oklahoma State University ‘Senior of Significance’

Paso Robles native plans to pursue doctorate in horticulture science
– Samantha Buie from Paso Robles has been named an Oklahoma State University Senior of Significance for the 2025-26 academic year by the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association.
Buie, a horticulture science major, was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, served as president of Global Engagement Leaders, and conducted undergraduate research for the National American Society for Horticulture Science. She also worked and volunteered at the university’s student farm.
After graduation, Buie plans to attend graduate school to study horticulture science and pursue a doctorate with the goal of conducting research at the university level.
The Oklahoma State University Seniors of Significance Award recognizes students who exemplify the university’s Cowboy Code, which honors the school’s land-grant mission and commends academic achievement, character and personal impact. The 51 students selected represent the top one percent of seniors across all five undergraduate colleges.
A ceremony recognizing this year’s honorees will be held Nov. 18 at 5:15 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips Oklahoma State University Alumni Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
