Paso Robles students place at National Skills USA Competition

– Paso Robles High School (PRHS) students had a successful competition at the recent SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The fop finisher from PRHS was Mason Brown who earned a silver medal in the category of Telecommunications Cabling.

Overall, eight PRHS students qualified for the national competition by earning gold medals at the state contest this past April. In addition to the silver medal by Mason Brown, several students placed in the top ten at nationals: John Nash (5th – plumbing), Zac Alves (7th – Welding), and Maddie Harris (8th – First Aid/CPR).

SkillsUSA provides educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in schools. PRHS has one of the largest CTE programs in the state. Courses offered at PRHS include Culinary Arts, Automotive Industry, Building Trades, Informational Technology, Digital Media, Early Childhood Education, Welding, and Health Careers. The CTE courses help students develop a skill set to prepare them to enter the workforce.
