Paso Robles teacher Megan Wortman receives Special Education Impact Award

Award highlights support for students with diverse learning needs

    – The San Luis Obispo County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), in partnership with its Community Advisory Committee (CAC), has named Megan Wortman, a special education elementary teacher with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD), as the recipient of the 2026 Special Education Impact Award in the Elementary Teacher category.

This award recognizes individuals across San Luis Obispo County who demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovative teaching practices, and a strong commitment to supporting students in special education, according to the district.

Wortman was selected through a countywide nomination process that honors educators making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

“We are incredibly proud of Megan and the care, expertise, and passion she brings to her students each day,” said PRJUSD Special Education Director, Stephanie Schofield. “Her work reflects the very best of what we strive to provide for all learners in Paso Robles.”

She will be formally recognized at a Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting on April 28.
