89-year-old woman takes out row of mailboxes with car 

Alicia Escobar Morgan transported to Sierra Vista Hospital with major injuries

–Paso Robles resident 89-year-old Alicia Escobar Morgan sustained major injuries after she collided with a raised curb, four mailboxes and a metal sign with her car on Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol.

On Saturday morning at 11 a.m., Morgan was driving her 1994 Mercedes Benz northbound on Ramada Drive at approximately 55 mph. As she was approaching the intersection of Calle Propano, for unknown reasons she swerved to the right, striking the raised concrete curb, according to CHP. Her vehicle continued up onto the sidewalk, striking a row of four mailboxes and a raised metal sign. The vehicle continued in a northerly direction, becoming airborne, striking to dirt embankment on the opposite side of a heavily wooded dirt drainage culvert, the report says.

Morgan sustained major injuries and was reportedly transported to Sierra Vista Hospital.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision. This collision is currently under investigation by the Templeton CHP Office.
