Paso Robles wrestling competes in league finals, prepares for championships

– The league finals for Paso Robles High School wrestling took place last weekend at Righetti High School, where the varsity girls and junior varsity boys competed.
For the varsity girls, Denisse DeLaCruz Lopez placed second, Perseuz Montoya placed fourth, and Tiana Basulto placed second. The team will compete this weekend at the Division 2 CIF championships at Mira Monte High School in Bakersfield. DeLaCruz Lopez is currently ranked fifth in the Central Section, and Basulto is ranked seventh.
The junior varsity boys placed second in league as a team. Righetti took first place, and Atascadero placed third. Individual results for Paso Robles included:
- Johnny Tabarez, second place at 108 pounds
- Adam Pineda, first place at 115 pounds
- Cole Silas, second place at 115 pounds
- Maverick Ortiz, fourth place at 115 pounds
- Gabriel Morones, first place at 120 pounds
- Blake Rede, third place at 138 pounds
- Christofer Jewett, first place at 146 pounds
- Chris Jewett, third place at 152 pounds
- Mason Pollak, first place at 157 pounds
- Chris Melgar, fourth place at 157 pounds
- Kenneth Jacobus, second place at heavyweight
- Jose Martinez, second place at heavyweight
The varsity boys will compete this weekend at the Division 1 CIF championships at Clovis North High School.
