Story and photos by Paso Robles High School Wrestling Coach Nate Ybarra:

    – The Paso Robles High School Girls’ Wrestling team recently traveled to Foothill High School in Bakersfield for the Lady Trojan Invite. Persauz Montoya and Denisse DeLaCruz Lopez both won first place, winning three matches in a row. Tiana Basulto earned second place, and Melanie Cerron earned fourth place.

The boys’ wrestling team traveled to Camarillo to participate in a 10-team dual tournament. The boys won seven matches and lost three. Paso Robles beat Birmingham High School, Chaminade, Nordhoff, Pacifica, Rio Mesa, Santa Ynez, and Thousand Oaks. Paso’s 3 losses came from Mt.Carmel, Warren, and Camarillo.

Brandon England went undefeated, winning first place at 157 pounds, and Caleb Koniski earned second at 190 pounds. Paso lost two close matches, knocking them off the podium this year, but Paso had the second-highest number of team points at second place and the most pins and tech falls in the tournament.
