Paso winemakers to host five-course dinner in historic Kentucky barn
Event will feature five courses paired with ten wines from the two family-owned wineries
– Winemaker Sherman Thacher of Paso Robles is teaming up with winemaker Chase Carhartt of the Santa Ynez Valley for a collaborative dinner event on Oct. 5 at Thacher Winery’s historic 100-year-old Kentucky ranch barn. The event will feature five courses paired with ten wines from the two family-owned wineries.
“I’m honored to have Carhartt Family Wines from Los Olivos joining us for our annual fall dinner,” said Thacher. “I’ve always admired Chase and his family’s wine-growing philosophy. We promise to spoil you with our wines, fill you with exceptional food, and entertain you with a fun evening as we share a taste of old California.”
Thacher Winery, established in 2004, and Carhartt Family Wines, a three-generation family operation in Los Olivos, both share a commitment to low-intervention wine growing and environmental respect. The dinner highlights their shared passion for fine wine and food pairings.
The five-course menu will be crafted by Justin Monson, executive chef at Oak and Vine in Templeton. Monson, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, focuses on complementing the wines with seasonal flavors. “The menu looks amazing. I can’t wait to be in Paso and experience how Chef Monson’s vision comes together for this special evening of food, wine, and community,” said Carhartt.
The first course includes three appetizers paired with Thacher’s 2023 pet nat and Carhartt’s 2022 wine cider, followed by a grilled quail salad with Thacher’s 2023 valdiguie nouveau and Carhartt’s 2021 mission. The third course is charred octopus, paired with Thacher’s 2021 Graciano and Carhartt’s 2020 Chamise. The main course features oak roasted lamb chop with Thacher’s 2019 original copy and Carhartt’s 2019 Equilibria. Dessert will be a dark chocolate pave paired with Thacher’s 2021 Triumvirate Reserve Zinfandel and Carhartt’s 2020 Petite Sirah.
Tickets for the event are $300, with a discounted price of $250 for wine club members. Only 60 tickets are available, and they can be purchased on Thacher’s website.
