Peggy Ellen Rowlett dies at 54
–Peggy Ellen Van Horn Rowlett, age 54, passed away July 29, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington, after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. She was born February 6, 1963, the third child born to Bill and Vivian Van Horn in Paso Robles, California.
Peggy attended grammar school, jr high school, and high school in Paso Robles. She worked with her father, Bill, at the San Miguel Flouring Mill Company in San Miguel representing the fourth generation to do so in the family business. Peggy’s maternal grandparents, Ted and Marge Colburn, were involved with Pioneer Day for many years. Ted was a tractor mechanic who meticulously made sure all of the antique tractors were running for the annual parade. Marge took pride in making sure the Queen’s carriage was in tip-top shape to carry the Pioneer Day Royalty through the parade.
Peggy’s pride and joy is her daughter, Mikayla. Peggy and Mikayla lived in Clarkston, Washington where Mikayla attended high school. Peggy was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her job at Rustebakke Veterinary Service as a veterinary technician. She also enjoyed watching Mikayla compete in high school and collegiate rodeo. This past June she was most proud when Mikayla graduated from college in Ontario, Oregon.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Mikayla, Mikayla’s father and stepmother, Darrell (Christi) Rowlett, her mother, Vivian Van Horn, her brother, Mike (Elaine) Van Horn, her sister, Leslie (Jeff) Parker, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 6 great-nephews and1 great-niece.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 26, 2017, at 6:00 pm at the Ravine Waterpark at 2301 Airport Road in Paso Robles.
