    Local officials and residents attend Monday morning service

    – Community members gathered at Paso Robles District Cemetery on Memorial Day for a ceremony honoring service members who died in military service.

    The event took place Monday at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. Attendees shared photos and messages on social media reflecting on the meaning of the day and the turnout.

    San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow posted, “Attended a wonderful Memorial Day service at the Paso Robles District Cemetery this morning at 11 a.m. It was wonderful to see so many freedom-loving Americans there to remember the fallen who gave their last full measure of devotion for our freedom!”

    Local business Bee Wench Farms also shared a message, writing, “We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend and taking some time to thank and remember all who have served us! We spent some time helping put flags by the graves of those who served at the Paso Robles Cemetery. It was a great experience and we were so glad to see that so many members of our community came out to help out and pay their respects. We are so thankful for all of the men and women serving and who have served our country!”

    San Luis Obispo County Supervisor John Peschong wrote, “Remembering and honoring the almost 1,355,000 fallen service members at the Paso Robles cemetery.” He also included a quote from former President Ronald Reagan: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

    The annual observance brought out volunteers and families who helped place flags at gravesites and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in service to the United States.
