Pile burning operations happening in Morro Bay State Park

–Pile burning operations are planned in Morro Bay State Park starting this week. Burning will occur as conditions allow between Wednesday, April 14, and Friday, April 23. They will be burning 6 brush piles. These projects are intended to reduce fuel loads and fire hazards associated with high fuel density caused by tree mortality.

Burn operations will be active between approximately 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. Actual burn days will be determined by weather conditions and permit conditions. Brush piles will be burned throughout Black Hill in Morro Bay State Park.

This project is managed by California State Parks, in cooperation with Cal Fire, the Air Pollution Control District, and the Morro Bay Fire Department.
