Planning commission to discuss noise ordinance

noise ordinance paso robles

–The Paso Robles Planning Commission will discuss changes to noise regulations within the city at their Nov. 27 meeting. To view the agenda, click here.

Complaints from noise sources has increased in the last few years, and the City’s General Plan and regulations do not provide adequate means to characterize noise impacts or enforce noise regulations, according to the staff report linked to the agenda item.

Bollard Acoustical Consultants, Inc. (BAC) has been retained by the City of El Paso de Robles (City) to assist the city with updating the Paso Robles General Plan Noise Element and in preparing a new Noise Ordinance.

Once the goals and policies of the Noise Element have been established, BAC will develop the Noise Ordinance standards that are more specific and address issues pertaining to specific noise sources and opportunities for enforcement. A public workshop “Study Session” to review the new Noise Ordinance will be scheduled for early 2019.

The planning commission will decide whether to review draft policies with public comment and provide direction to staff and applicant on refinements or place the item on a future agenda.
