Police arrest man with suspected 3D printed or after-market gun
18-year old on probation for prior felonies arrested
– San Luis Obispo Police arrested an 18-year-old San Luis Obispo resident late Friday night after staff at an arcade reported seeing a man with a firearm in his waistband.
Around 11:20 p.m. on June 13, staff at a business on the 600 block of Higuera Street alerted a bicycle patrol officer to the presence of an armed individual. Officers located the man shortly afterward walking on Nipomo Street near Pacific Street and detained him.
During a search, officers found a handgun in the waistband of the man, identified as Juan Vargus-Tufino. The firearm did not have a serial number, its magazine was not loaded, and the lower portion of the gun appeared to be after-market or 3D printed.
Vargus-Tufino, who is on probation for prior felony convictions, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of an undetectable firearm. He was transported to San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he remains in custody.
