Sex offender busted with 1500 marijuana plants

– A San Miguel resident was arrested on Saturday for possessing over 1500 marijuana plants in different stages of growth on his property, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

During an investigation of the illegal dumping of trash on Cross County Road in Southern Monterey County, a California Fish and Wildlife Officer located a PG&E bill that directed him to 76375 Hidden Creek Rd. in San Miguel. Upon arriving at the residence, he contacted the solo resident, Douglas King in the backyard of the property.

As he contacted King, he observed approximately 100 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and maturity in the backyard of the property. King stated he had about 100 plants and some processed marijuana inside, police say. King also possessed an expired medicinal marijuana card.

A warrants check of King revealed him to be a registered as a sex offender in San Luis Obispo County. A search warrant of the residence was granted and during the service of the warrant, and Monterey County Deputies discovered 1502 marijuana plants varying in size from four inches to four feet high. 6.71 pounds of processed marijuana and butane honey oil manufacturing equipment were located in the residence. Police say that It was also discovered the resident was stealing electrical utilities from PG&E.
