Police find suspicious liquid during probation search

Liquid reportedly suspected to be dimethyltryptamine, also known as DMT

    – A probation compliance check turned into a hazmat investigation Tuesday when detectives discovered a suspicious liquid inside a residence, according to a report by the Tribune.

The search took place at a residence in the 1100 block of Putter Avenue as part of a routine check to ensure the suspect was in compliance with their probation order. During the search, detectives found eight to 16 ounces of an unknown liquid. Out of an abundance of caution, they called in the hazmat team to investigate.

The liquid is suspected to be the psychedelic substance dimethyltryptamine, also known as DMT, according to the Tribune report. However, a test still needs to be performed to confirm this.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of a probation violation. Drug charges will reportedly be added if the test comes back positive for DMT or another illegal substance.
