Police investigate social media post involving potential threat to local school

Authorities determined the threat was not credible
– Paso Robles Police officers responded to a report of a possible threat directed toward students and staff at Virginia Peterson Elementary School on May 27 at approximately 1 p.m.
School resource officers were notified of the threat, which involved messages posted to social media over the weekend. The police department conducted a joint investigation with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District officials.
Authorities determined the threat was not credible.
Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Superintendent Jennifer Loftus issued a statement regarding the incident.
“Earlier today, we became aware of a TikTok post that raised concerns about the safety of our students and staff at Virginia Peterson Elementary,” Loftus said. “Law enforcement has since conducted a thorough investigation and discovered that the message was posted over the weekend. At this time, it was determined by law enforcement that the threat is not credible. We want to reassure you that the school remains safe and secure.”
“This situation provides an important opportunity to speak with your child about making positive choices and understanding that their words and actions have consequences,” Loftus said. “Please know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. Police also encouraged parents to speak with their children about responsible use of social media and reminded the public that anonymous tips can be submitted to the 24-hour Crime Stoppers hotline at (805) 549-STOP or by texting “SLOTIPS” plus a message to CRIMES (274637).

The school district should hire more behavior health specialists to coddle these poor kids who threaten teachers, students, and disrupt classrooms. That seems to be the answer isn’t it.
