Police officers injured during drug-related arrest at local park 

–On Tuesday at about 2:14 p.m., two Grover Beach Police Officers were conducting routine security checks of local area parks when they encountered a male adult inside the men’s restroom at Mentone Basin Park who was suspected of being involved in drug activity. The officers attempted to arrest the man and he resisted the arrest.

A violent struggle ensued which resulted in one officer sustaining moderate to serious injuries, the second officer sustaining minor to moderate injuries and the suspect, Trey A. Wilson sustaining minor injuries.

During the struggle, Wilson escaped from the officers and fled into the nearby neighborhood. An extensive search involving the law enforcement agencies from Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff conducted a search utilizing K-9 dogs and numerous officers. Wilson was found about two blocks away and taken into custody without further incident.

An ambulance and the Five Cities Fire Authority were called to the scene to treat and transport the seriously injured officer to a local hospital for treatment. The second officer is being treated for minor to moderate injuries at another local hospital.

Wilson was also treated and released from a local hospital for his minor injuries. Wilson was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on multiple charges.
