Through online postings, the student commented, ‘I want the school shot up’

–During the late evening hours of Oct. 18, the Paso Robles Police Department became aware of a potential online threat directed toward Paso Robles High School. The investigation stemmed from online comments posted by a 14-year old PRHS high school student to the social media websites Snapchat and Facebook. Through online postings, the student commented, “I want the school shot up.”

The PRPD has subsequently identified and contacted the 14-year old boy (and his parents) responsible for the posting. After extensive conversation and investigation, officers have determined the threat is unfounded. The PRPD has been in contact with district administration and school security staff to advise them of our investigation and findings.

The PRPD is aware online postings are still circulating across the internet. The PRPD would like to assure the community we are aware of the posts and have taken immediate action. We do not believe there is a credible threat to our students or community.

The PRPD would like to thank the community for immediately sharing this potential threat with us and would like to remind the community: If you see something, say something.
