Update: Homicide victim identified by sheriff’s office

– The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of the victim of a homicide that occurred Wednesday in the 9000 block of Goldie Lane in Creston. The victim is identified as 42-year-old Jack Dean Everhart of Creston.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting that occurred at that location. When deputies arrived, they discovered Everhart with a gunshot wound. Medical aid was administered, but a short time later the victim died from his injuries. The suspect in that incident, 42-year-old Cruz Gomez, Jr., of Creston fled the scene but was caught in the city of Paso Robles later that afternoon. Gomez was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on one count of murder.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

Homicide suspect apprehended after fleeing scenes of two crimes

– The suspect wanted in a homicide investigation that occurred Wednesday morning in the 9000 block of Goldie Lane in Creston has been apprehended. Cruz Christopher Gomez, Jr., 42-years-old, of Creston, was arrested without incident near St. Ann Drive in Paso Robles.

There are no outstanding suspects in this case. No further information is available at this time.

Authorities searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ man, wanted for murder and stabbing

Paso Robles Police officers, emergency service workers, and investigators are on the scene of a reported stabbing.

A report came in shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday of a female victim suffering multiple stab wounds by a male in the vicinity of 1100 Alamo Creek Terrace at Stoney Creek Road. The female was transported to a local hospital.

During the course of the investigation, police identified a potential suspect in the case, Cruz Christopher Gomez Jr. 43, of Bakersfield, according to Paso Robles Police Commander Caleb Davis.

Gomez is described as bald, wearing a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes. If you know the whereabouts of Gomez, police ask residents to please call 9-1-1.

According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, the same suspect is wanted for a murder Wednesday morning in Creston.

At about 7:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting that had occurred in the 9000 block of Goldie Lane in Creston.

When deputies arrived at that location, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. Medical aid was administered, but a short time later the victim died from his injuries. Detectives began an immediate homicide investigation.

The suspect was identified by authorities as Cruz Gomez, Jr. Detectives and deputies have been searching for Gomez. The sheriff’s office has a warrant for his arrest charging murder. He is considered armed and dangerous. There is no indication of any threats against the general public, authorities say.

There is a heavy police presence in the area and Stoney Creek Road is closed. Police are evacuating nearby apartments in the area as they search for the suspect.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the Paso Robles Police Department is requesting anyone with any information to call the police at (805) 237-6464.
