Police seek help identifying, locating theft suspects

The crew, which is comprised of a black male adult identified as John Thomas Reynolds of San Luis Obispo and his unidentified black female adult accomplice, remove the credit cards from unattended wallets and flee before they are discovered.

-The Atascadero Police Department is warning business owners and office personnel throughout the county about an organized crime crew that has been working in the area off and on for the past seven months.

In the past, the crew has targeted a variety of small businesses including attorney’s offices, doctor’s clinics, boutiques, therapy centers, etc. The businesses are open but unattended. In the majority of the cases the staff were otherwise occupied assisting clients or conducting meetings while their purses and wallets lay unattended in seemingly well-hidden locations. The crew, which is comprised of a black male adult identified as John Thomas Reynolds of San Luis Obispo and his unidentified black female adult accomplice, remove the credit cards from unattended wallets and flee before they are discovered. The female then uses the stolen credit cards to purchase high dollar gift cards from chain stores such as Target and CVS. Reynolds and his accomplice’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

Please contact Detective K. Netz of the Atascadero Police Department at 805-461-5051, if you can identify the pictured female suspect or with any sightings of Reynolds and/or the unidentified female suspect. Reynolds is currently wanted in San Luis Obispo County on related charges.

The Atascadero Police Department advises those working in offices and small businesses throughout the county to lock up purses and wallets that may be unattended throughout the day. The department also advises that businesses secure secondary access doors to prevent unnoticed access by the suspects.
