Power outage reported at Mid-State Fair

–The California Mid-State Fair experienced a brief and partial power failure Tuesday afternoon, July 24, affecting a handful of buildings and pavilions. The brief reduction in power lasted a little over an hour, from approximately 4:30 pm until 5:45 pm.

CEO Michael Bradley said, “The safety of patrons and animals is our first priority, and our staff, along with PG&E, worked diligently and effectively to restore full power. We are also equipped with back-up generators and were prepared for the minor failure. In addition, tonight’s Main Grandstand show with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill went off without a hitch.”

PG&E released the following:

The safety and security of our customers, employees, contractors, and communities is our top priority. High temperatures this evening in North County caused localized outages.

Our crews responded safely and quickly restored electricity to the affected areas, including a partial outage that occurred at the Mid-State Fair.

We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are using the latest technology to receive accurate and timely outage data and to restore power more quickly and efficiently.

To help reduce the load on the system and improve reliability during the heat, PG&E encourages customers in affected areas to conserve energy.

The power returned and no problems manifested later.  Last night, the carnival lit up the night sky around the Paso Robles Event Center. The crowds mingled in the warm evening watching friends and loved ones tossed around the flashing contraptions.

Hot weather is expected again through Thursday afternoon, then a gradual cooling trend begins Friday.
