–As of Feb. 8 at 11 a.m., the power is out at Virginia Peterson Elementary School. PG&E is working to resolve the issue but does not expect the power to return today, according to Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Public Relations Officer Martha Clayton.

The district will be following their school site safety plan which means that students will be transported to Pat Butler Elementary for the remainder of the day via district school busses.

“Student safety is our priority,” said Clayton. “While this does disrupt the school day for our students and staff, students will remain with their teachers and will be warm, safe, and actively engaged during this time.”

Parents who would prefer to pick up their children can do so at Virginia Peterson before 11:15 or at Pat Butler (700 Nicklaus Street) between 11:30 and 1:00.

As per usual policy, the adult who picks up the student must be listed on the emergency card and have a photo ID. If picking your child up at Virginia Peterson, please do so at the kindergarten gate.

All students will be returned to Virginia Peterson at 1:30 for dismissal.

Students who participate in ASES after school program will remain at Pat Butler and can be picked up at the regular time.

They do expect the power to be restored this evening and school to be back in session tomorrow morning. They will notify you if there are any changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the district office at 769-1000.
