–Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 19, and continuing over multiple weeks, burning of hazardous vegetation will occur along the East side of Highway 229 between Highway 58 and the town of Creston. In cooperation with the SLO County Fire Safe Council and SLO County APCD and local landowners, Firefighters from Cal Fire will conduct multiple burns which will be part of an ongoing effort to reduce hazardous vegetation.
Burning is expected to last into the New Year and will be completed each day to minimize potential overnight smoke impacts. If conditions are not suitable for good consumption and optimal smoke dispersal, the burns will be rescheduled.
