Property within the city must have all weeds removed to reduce fire hazards

weed abatement

–To prepare for the upcoming fire season, the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services would like to remind residents and property owners about the city’s weed abatement program. This program is designed to keep the city fire-safe by ensuring that yards and larger land parcels are cleared of combustible weeds and debris. Property within the city must have all weeds mowed, disked, or otherwise removed to lessen fire hazards.

The city asks residents clear lots of all combustible vegetation, including dead leaves, weeds, brush, and tree limbs no later than June 1. Property owners should also remove excess trash, wood, and other combustibles. While June 1 is the deadline, the department encourages residents to keep their property clear at all times. Please do your part to minimize the danger to your property and that of your neighbors.

If you have questions or need the names of contractors who perform weed abatement and lot cleaning, please call the Department of Emergency Services at (805) 227-7560, or visit our office at 900 Park Street in Paso Robles. Weed abatement guidelines are also available on the Emergency Services page of the city website, prcity.com.
