Public meeting to be held regarding Diablo Canyon Decommissioning

Diablo Canyon–The Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel’s second public meeting will be held at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center at 1055 Monterey St, in San Luis Obispo, on Wednesday, June 27, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The meeting’s focus will be on the decommissioning project’s regulatory, planning, and execution timeline and process. Time will also be dedicated to public comment.

The Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel will help inform PG&E’s site-specific decommissioning plan and cost estimate which will be filed with the California Public Utilities Commission in the next Nuclear Decommissioning Cost Triennial Proceeding (NDCTP) in 2019. The panel will also help inform PG&E’s plans for the future use and potential repurposing of the DCPP site and the more than 12,000 acres of lands that surround it. For more information about the panel, including panel member biographies, visit www.pge.com/engagementpanel.

Panelists are local community members that broadly reflect diverse community viewpoints and who live in proximity to Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP). Representatives from PG&E will be present to discuss DCPP decommissioning planning status and to answer questions.

There will be an open house poster session for the panel and the public to speak with decommissioning subject matter experts from 6 to 7 p.m. and a public meeting from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
