Public urged to avoid riverbed, leave extra time for commutes
10 people needed to be rescued from rising water levels in the Salinas River Bed last year.
–The City of Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services is reminding all residents to avoid the riverbed during and following storms and to allow extra time during the morning commute on Thursday, Jan. 17.
The Salinas Riverbed is extremely hazardous during these rain events and all residents are advised to stay clear of the riverbed. Danger signs have been posted along the riverbed to advise people not to enter the area.
On March 22, 2018, ten residents of Paso Robles were rescued from the river and moved safely to the shore. The rescues occurred during a period of intense rainfall and after a series of winter storms.
During storm events always remember to be aware of rapidly rising water levels and swift moving water.
