Pumpkin patch fundraiser helps send students to science camp

–Lusso Della Terra Cellars will host their first-ever pumpkin patch and vineyard hayride fundraiser at their winery throughout the month of October. The pumpkin patch is a fundraiser Pat Butler’s 5th-grade class to attend science camp next year.

The pumpkin patch boasts 20 distinct pumpkin varietals, with over 1,000 pumpkins total. Pumpkins will be available every day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; hayrides will be available on weekends only from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The winery will also host a grand finale Harvest Festival Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The festival will include a cakewalk, costume contest, hayrides, face painting, and prizes.

Lusso Della Terra, with the help of Pat Butler Elementary School parents, hopes to raise $23,000 for the 5th-grade class to attend science camp in spring 2020. Parents from nearly 60 families from the 5th-grade class, including Lusso Della Terra’s Owner Edward Cholakian and General Manager Megan Van Hook, will volunteer at the Pumpkin Patch fundraiser helping sell pumpkins and orchestrate hayride tours.

Van Hook, who has a son in the 5th-grade class, says she was enthusiastic to help create a fundraiser for the class’ science camp. “Harvest is my favorite time of year, and we want to help support the kids going on their first away from home science camp, so we’re stoked to help,” she said. “Everyone we talk to has stories to tell about their first science camp experience, so it’s a memorable event we want to help make happen for these young kids.”
