Rain collection rebates available for Paso Robles residents

The Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District  is currently offering residents of some Paso Robles neighborhoods rebates for purchasing and installing rain barrels on their homes or businesses. Residents who live adjacent to Centennial Creek are eligible to apply for these one time credits of up to $75.

For more information, please contact Amy Smart at (805) 434-0396 ext. 120.

This project is funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, in partnership with PG&E.

In years prior, rainwater was collection was against state law, but in 2012, the California Legislature enacted and Governor Brown signed the, Rainwater Capture Act of 2012. The act exempts the capture and use of rainwater from rooftops from the State Water Resources Control Board’s permitting authority over appropriations of water. Prior to the act’s enactment, the SWRCB required would-be appropriators to obtain a permit to collect water from any source, including rain water.
