Report: Woman killed by rolling truck left in neutral in Creston driveway

    – A 64-year-old woman died Sunday after being run over by her own truck in the 800 block of Cripple Creek Road, according to a report by the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found that Valerie White, of Creston, had driven a manual transmission 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck onto a paved driveway entrance.

According to the report, White exited the vehicle to access a keypad for a gate code located to the left of the truck. She had left the vehicle in neutral and did not set the parking brake, the report stated.

The truck rolled backward, “causing her to be run over and trapped beneath the vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries,” the California Highway Patrol said.
