Residents offered free chipping program to support fire defense
– The San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council, in partnership with Paso Robles Fire & Emergency Services, is offering a free chipping program to help residents create and maintain the 100-foot defensible space required around homes and structures.
Funded by the State of California, this service supports wildfire preparedness by removing hazardous vegetation. A local, licensed, and insured contractor will chip properly stacked material and haul it away, or leave the chips on-site if requested.
Reservations must be made at least seven days in advance. Residents are encouraged to sign up before building their pile to ensure it meets all requirements.
Learn more about the specific requirements, view sample photos of correct stacking, and reserve your chipper day at: www.chipperday.com/slofsc
This service helps protect homes and neighborhoods by supporting proactive fuel reduction and wildfire readiness.
